- Die Ausstellung “Häuser zum Anfassen“ befasst sich mit dem Ausstellen von Architektur. In künstlerischen Recherchearbeiten verhandelt sie Fragen zur Repräsentation, Medialisierung, Simulation und Aneignung von Architektur anhand der Musterhaus-Ausstellung in Fellbach. Diese wurde 1971 vom Verleger Ottmar Strebel gegründet und ist nach eigener Darstellung die erste ihrer Art in Deutschland. Besucherinnen und Besucher können hier 66 verschiedene, nahezu komplett eingerichtete Musterhäuser besichtigen, begehen und kaufen. So entsteht ein Hybrid aus Ausstellung, Kulissensiedlung und Simulationsarchitektur.

- The exhibition "Häuser zum Anfassen" ("Houses to touch") deals with the exhibition of architecture. In artistic works of research, it deals with questions of representation, medialization, simulation and appropriation of architecture based on the model house exhibition in Fellbach. This exhibition was established in 1971 by the publisher Ottmar Strebel and is, by his own account, the first of its kind in Germany. Visitors can view, walk through and purchase 66 different, almost fully furnished show homes. The result is a hybrid of exhibition, scenic estate and simulated architecture.

- Plastic Fugue als Diplomprojekt besteht aus vier Teilen:
0. Introducing ipcl, ein Einführungsvideo, das eine Produktpräsentation imitiert. CEO Framey von „Moberm“, einer fiktiven Firma, spricht darüber, wie Moberm aufgrund der Kindheitserinnerungen des CEOs beschloss, sein Geschäft auf Musikinstrumente auszuweiten. Das Video behauptet selbstbewusst die Multifunktionalität der air&dust-Instrumente, bleibt dabei jedoch letztlich inhaltsleer. Framey, die sprechende Figur, artikuliert indirekt die Erzählung der Person hinter dem Werk und stellt gleichzeitig eine von Stereotypen und Neoliberalismus durchzogene Kunststruktur nach.
1. Plastic Fugue, eine interaktive Klanginstallation, bestehend aus sechs Flöten (air 5-10, air Pp 1), die jeweils nur einen Ton erzeugen und über codierte Dirigierknöpfe ferngesteuert aktiviert werden. Die Reihenfolge der Töne ist jedes Mal zufällig. Die Fuge wird auf ihre Struktur reduziert und in ein Spiel mit Sequenz und Zeit überführt. Anstelle der idealisierten Ordnung stelle ich mir eine offenere Art der Klangmontage vor, eine Art demokratischer Kontrapunkt.
2. Sax Recital, ein Video, gespielt von Arno Arial mit der DIY-Saxophone-Serie, deren Mundstücke auf Open-Source-3D-Modellen basieren und handgefertigt aus PCL und PLA bestehen. Das Stück wurde aufgenommen, während Arial Kopfhörer trug, um klassische Musik zu hören, sowie lärmunterdrückende Ausrüstung darüber, um sowohl äußere als auch selbst erzeugte Klänge auszublenden. Das Video läuft im Ausstellungsraum in Dauerschleife und bildet gemeinsam mit Plastic Fugue eine gebrochene fugenhafte Gegenstimme.
3. Pp 1-8, air 1-4 und dust 1-2, frühe Instrumente und Polymer-Gemälde, bei denen ich keinen überzeugenden Grund fand, weiterhin traditionelle Materialien zu verwenden. Also entschied ich mich, sie stattdessen mit PCL und PLA zu schaffen.
Die oben genannten Arbeiten sind das Ergebnis eines Instrumentenbaus durch DIY-Praxis und Open-Source-Dateien aus dem Internet, indem die Illusion der klassistischen Form geschmolzen, vermischt und in biologisch abbaubare Polymere gegossen wurde, nicht nur mit der Hand, sondern auch mit dem 3D-Drucker. Eine besondere Qualifikation ist für die Herstellung nicht nötig. Die Bauanleitungen für diese DIY-Instrumente werden während der Ausstellung und auf der Website zur Verfügung gestellt.
Wenn das Publikum die Knöpfe drückt, spielt dieses neutrale Orchester eine fugenhafte Struktur, bei der sich alle paar Sekunden Klänge überlagern. Die Kontrolle über das Orchester liegt beim Publikum. Die Arbeit hinterfragt geerbte Hierarchien, sowohl durch Material als auch durch Methode.
Für Kinder, die früh gelernt haben, nichts zu verlangen, und für Erwachsene, die mit dieser Erinnerung aufgewachsen sind.

0. Introducing air&dust, a (introduction) video that appropriates a product unveiling conference. CEO Framey from Moberm, a pseudo corporation, speaks about how Moberm decided to expand its business into musical instruments based on the CEO's childhood memory. It boldly claims air&dust’s multifunctionality in musical instruments but remains ultimately hollow.
Framey, the speaking character, serves as a device that indirectly voices the artist's narrative within the work, while also reenacting the structure of art polluted by stereotypes and neoliberalism. The character is made with the virtual youtuber avatar technique.
1. Plastic Fugue, an interactive sound installation which consists of six flutes (air 5-10, air Pp 1) with air pumps, each producing a single tone and activated remotely through coded conducting buttons. The order of play is random every time as the buttons signal remotely.
The fugue has long stood as a symbol of musical authority and elitism, a form that represents technical mastery and the traditional hierarchy of composition. In my work, I try to break apart that formal authority, stripping the fugue down to its bare structure and shifting it toward an exploration of sequence and time. Instead of upholding its idealized order, I imagine a more open, accessible way of assembling sound, a kind of democratic counterpoint. You could call it a process of unmaking the fugue, of abstracting it.
2. Sax Recital, a recital video piece played by Arno Arial featuring DIY-Saxophone series, which is a quite decent structure of mouthpiece built using open-source 3D models and handcrafted with PCL and PLA. Filmed while Arial was wearing earphones for listening to classical music and soundproof gear on top to block out both external and self-produced instrumental sound. This piece is loop-playing all the time in the exhibition, making broken fugal counterpoint together with Plastic Fugue.
3. Pp 1-9, air 1-4, and dust 1-2, early-made instruments and polymer paintings which I found no compelling reason to continue using traditional materials, and so I ended up creating them with PCL and PLA.
The above instruments and paintings are the result of instrument-making through DIY-ness and open-source files from the internet by melting, merging, and mixing the illusion of classism's shape into biodegradable polymers, not only with a hand, but also with a 3D printer. However, any sacred qualification to make is not needed. DIY instructions for these DIY instruments are distributed at the exhibition and website.
When audiences press the buttons, this neutral orchestra plays a Fugue-like style, which overlaps sounds every few seconds. Placing control of the orchestra in the hands of the audience, the work democratizes a position of authority and questions inherited hierarchies through both material and method.

Anstelle der idealisierten Ordnung stelle ich mir eine offenere Art der Klangmontage vor, eine Art demokratischer Kontrapunkt.
2. Sax Recital, ein Video, gespielt von Arno Arial mit der DIY-Saxophone-Serie, deren Mundstücke auf Open-Source-3D-Modellen basieren und handgefertigt aus PCL und PLA bestehen. Das Stück wurde aufgenommen, während Arial Kopfhörer trug, um klassische Musik zu hören, sowie lärmunterdrückende Ausrüstung darüber, um sowohl äußere als auch selbst erzeugte Klänge auszublenden. Das Video läuft im Ausstellungsraum in Dauerschleife und bildet gemeinsam mit Plastic Fugue eine gebrochene fugenhafte Gegenstimme.
3. Pp 1-8, air 1-4 und dust 1-2, frühe Instrumente und Polymer-Gemälde, bei denen ich keinen überzeugenden Grund fand, weiterhin traditionelle Materialien zu verwenden. Also entschied ich mich, sie stattdessen mit PCL und PLA zu schaffen.
Die oben genannten Arbeiten sind das Ergebnis eines Instrumentenbaus durch DIY-Praxis und Open-Source-Dateien aus dem Internet, indem die Illusion der klassistischen Form geschmolzen, vermischt und in biologisch abbaubare Polymere gegossen wurde, nicht nur mit der Hand, sondern auch mit dem 3D-Drucker. Eine besondere Qualifikation ist für die Herstellung nicht nötig. Die Bauanleitungen für diese DIY-Instrumente werden während der Ausstellung und auf der Website zur Verfügung gestellt.
Wenn das Publikum die Knöpfe drückt, spielt dieses neutrale Orchester eine fugenhafte Struktur, bei der sich alle paar Sekunden Klänge überlagern. Die Kontrolle über das Orchester liegt beim Publikum. Die Arbeit hinterfragt geerbte Hierarchien, sowohl durch Material als auch durch Methode.
Für Kinder, die früh gelernt haben, nichts zu verlangen, und für Erwachsene, die mit dieser Erinnerung aufgewachsen sind.

0. Introducing air&dust, a (introduction) video that appropriates a product unveiling conference. CEO Framey from Moberm, a pseudo corporation, speaks about how Moberm decided to expand its business into musical instruments based on the CEO's childhood memory. It boldly claims air&dust’s multifunctionality in musical instruments but remains ultimately hollow.
Framey, the speaking character, serves as a device that indirectly voices the artist's narrative within the work, while also reenacting the structure of art polluted by stereotypes and neoliberalism. The character is made with the virtual youtuber avatar technique.
1. Plastic Fugue, an interactive sound installation which consists of six flutes (air 5-10, air Pp 1) with air pumps, each producing a single tone and activated remotely through coded conducting buttons. The order of play is random every time as the buttons signal remotely.
The fugue has long stood as a symbol of musical authority and elitism, a form that represents technical mastery and the traditional hierarchy of composition. In my work, I try to break apart that formal authority, stripping the fugue down to its bare structure and shifting it toward an exploration of sequence and time. Instead of upholding its idealized order, I imagine a more open, accessible way of assembling sound, a kind of democratic counterpoint. You could call it a process of unmaking the fugue, of abstracting it.
2. Sax Recital, a recital video piece played by Arno Arial featuring DIY-Saxophone series, which is a quite decent structure of mouthpiece built using open-source 3D models and handcrafted with PCL and PLA. Filmed while Arial was wearing earphones for listening to classical music and soundproof gear on top to block out both external and self-produced instrumental sound. This piece is loop-playing all the time in the exhibition, making broken fugal counterpoint together with Plastic Fugue.
3. Pp 1-9, air 1-4, and dust 1-2, early-made instruments and polymer paintings which I found no compelling reason to continue using traditional materials, and so I ended up creating them with PCL and PLA.
The above instruments and paintings are the result of instrument-making through DIY-ness and open-source files from the internet by melting, merging, and mixing the illusion of classism's shape into biodegradable polymers, not only with a hand, but also with a 3D printer. However, any sacred qualification to make is not needed. DIY instructions for these DIY instruments are distributed at the exhibition and website.
When audiences press the buttons, this neutral orchestra plays a Fugue-like style, which overlaps sounds every few seconds. Placing control of the orchestra in the hands of the audience, the work democratizes a position of authority and questions inherited hierarchies through both material and method.

- Eine Studie des Stadtforschers William H. Whyte zeigt, dass es für Menschen ein positives Erlebnis ist, wenn sie Sitzmöbel selbst (um)positionieren dürfen. Der KLOTZSTUHL greift diesen Gedanken auf. Die Sitzfläche lässt sich verstellen, sodass sich der Stuhl an unterschiedliche Hangneigungen anpassen kann. Dadurch kann man ihn fast überall auf dem Hügel aufstellen. Er ist nicht fest installiert, aber durch seine "klotzige" Bauweise und das relative hohe Gewicht ist er auch nicht zum Mitnehmen gedacht.
Der KLOTZSTUHL wurde entworfen für Hänge in Parkanlagen wie beispielsweise dem MOUNT KLOTZ in der Günther-Klotz-Anlage in Karlsruhe. Er macht es möglich, auch an steilen Hängen bequem zu sitzen und die Aussicht auf den Sonnenuntergang mit einem kühlen Getränk zu genießen.

The KLOTZSTUHL embraces this idea. Its adjustable seat allows it to adapt to various slope angles, making it usable almost anywhere on a steep slope. It is not fixed in place, but due to its bulky design and quite heavy weight, it is also not meant to be carried away.
The KLOTZSTUHL was designed specifically for sloped areas in public parks, such as the MOUNT KLOTZ in the Günther-Klotz-Anlage in Karlsruhe. It makes it possible to sit comfortably even on steep hills, and to enjoy the view of the sunset with a cold drink.

- “eternal girlhood” ist eine konzeptionelle Arbeit, welche aus einer Rauminstallation und einer Publikation besteht.
Ursprünglich in den Chinesischen Pavillons des Fasanengartens in Karlsruhe installiert, wurde der Raum mit der Handlung der Publikation durch Requisiten sowie ein selbst produziertes Musikstück verknüpft.
Das Projekt ermöglicht eine Reise in eine poetische Geschichte, inspiriert von persönlichen und kulturellen Themen wie Girlhood, Coming-of-Age und Growing Pains.
Die handgebundene Publikation mit glitzerndem und geprägtem Umschlag umfasst auf ca. 100 Seiten neben Serien analoger Schwarzweiß-Fotografie farbige Mittelformat-Fotos, begleitet von analogen Schnappschüssen und Illustrationen im Riso-Druck.
Zwischen Fotoserien und Illustrationen sind Songtexte sowie Skriptfragmente und Gedichte eingestreut, in Referenz zu Filmsequenzen aus Coming-of-Age-Geschichten. Es ergibt sich die zeitlose Skizze eines Mädchens, das Teil einer innig verbundenen Mädchengruppe ist.
Transparente Drucke von drei Mittelformat-Fotografien werden vom Fensterlicht erleuchtet und symbolisieren in Zusammenhang mit dem Buch unterschiedliche Kapitel der Geschichte.
Unter einem Baldachin, umgeben von funkelnd tanzenden Schmetterlingen, können Besucher*innen in diese Welt eintauchen und sind eingeladen, für einen Moment Teil von „eternal girlhood“ zu sein, fernab der Echtzeit.

Initially installed in the Chinese pavillons of the Fasanengarten in Karlsruhe, the space was connected to the story of the book through props and a musical sound score.
The project offers a journey into a poetic story, inspired by personal and cultural ideas on girlhood, coming of age and growing pains.
Handbound, wrapped in a glittery embossed dustcover, the publication features around 100 pages with multiple series of black and white film photography, medium format shots underlined by analog snapshots and Riso printed Illustrations. In between the chapters of photography and Illustrations, lyrics, fragments of script and poems are inserted in reference to movie sequences from coming of age stories. A timeless profile of a girl being part of girlhood and a deeply connected friendship is created.
Transparent prints of three medium format photos are illuminated by the windows’ natural light and symbolize different chapters of the story in combination with the book.
Underneath a canopy, surrounded by sparkling dancing butterflies, visitors can dive into this world and are invited to become part of “eternal girlhood“, away from modern reality.

- Vom 13. bis 23. Februar 2025 wird die Karlsruher Innenstadt zur Bühne für die Graduiertenausstellung „25 Grad“ der Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe. Rund 30 Absolvent:innen präsentieren ihre Abschlussarbeiten und machen ihre Werke einer breiten Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Der Titel „25 Grad“ symbolisiert den Zeitpunkt des Übergangs vom Hochschulabschluss in die Professionalität.
Eröffnet wird die Ausstellung am 13. Februar um 17 Uhr im Erdgeschoss der Postgalerie Karlsruhe mit einer Vernissage, die Begegnungen zwischen den Absolvent:innen und dem Publikum anregt und den Startpunkt für ein vielseitiges Programm bildet. Insgesamt wird es zwei Ausstellungsorte geben: neben zweier ehemaliger Ladenflächen im EG der Postgalerie Karlsruhe, wird auch der Badische Kunstverein in der Waldstraße 3, im Karlsruher Zentrum zum Ausstellungsraum. Die Ausstellungsorte werden durch einen gemeinsamen Spaziergang am selben Abend des 13.2.25 aktiviert. Ein vielfältiges Programm aus Screenings, Kolloquien und Workshops während der gesamten Ausstellungslaufzeit, lädt dazu ein, mit den Künstler:innen und Designer:innen in den Austausch zu treten. Den Abschluss markiert die Finissage am 23. Februar.
Die Ausstellung zeigt erneut die interdisziplinäre Qualität, die das Studium an der HfG Karlsruhe prägt. Die gezeigten Arbeiten reflektieren die enge Zusammenarbeit zwischen und in unterschiedlichen Fachrichtungen und verdeutlichen, wie stark die Studierenden nicht nur von den Lehrenden, sondern auch voneinander lernen und sich gegenseitig inspirieren. Diese Einflüsse, die fachliche Grenzen überschreiten, ,werden in einem begleitenden Magazin vorgestellt, das einen tiefen Einblick in die Arbeitsweisen und -prozesse der Ausstellenden gibt.

- From 13 to 23 February 2025, Karlsruhe city centre will become the stage for the ‘25 Grad’ graduate exhibition at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. Around 30 graduates will present their final theses and make their work accessible to the general public. The title ‘25 degrees’ symbolises the time of transition from graduation to professionalism.
The exhibition will open on 13 February at 5 p.m. on the ground floor of the Postgalerie Karlsruhe with a vernissage that will encourage encounters between the graduates and the public and form the starting point for a varied programme. In addition to a former shop space in the Postgalerie Karlsruhe, the exhibition space of the Badischer Kunstverein at Waldstraße 3 in the centre of Karlsruhe will also be used. The exhibition venues will be activated by a joint walk on the same evening of February 13, 2025. A varied programme of screenings, colloquia and workshops throughout the duration of the exhibition invites visitors to enter into an exchange with the artists and designers. The finissage on 23 February marks the end of the exhibition.
The exhibition once again demonstrates the interdisciplinary quality that characterises studies at the HfG Karlsruhe. The works on display reflect the close co-operation between and within different disciplines and illustrate the extent to which students not only learn from their teachers, but also from each other and inspire each other. These influences, which transcend disciplinary boundaries, are presented in an accompanying magazine that provides an in-depth insight into the exhibitors' working methods and processes.
