"To Cut A Long Story Short" is a parable about the inevitability and hopelessness of sentimental love. Told in an episodic narrative, the film introduces various characters: an opera singer proudly showcasing the success of her crash diet; a shy brunette who encounters a charismatic macho and embarks on an odyssey with him; two redheads who meet on the dance floor and speak in unison; a night porter who secretly dances in the staff restroom of a hotel and is secretly in love with the waitress at the diner around the corner. As he gazes at her longingly over the covers of his Camus novel, a stranger suddenly appears, and everyone takes a different path.
