- Die Hackerkultur verbindet Theorie und Praxis (nach hand-on Prinzipien) und einen neuen Ansatz für Kulturmaterialien (»information wants to be free«), der nicht nur eine andere Epistemologie, sondern auch einen neuen politischen Diskurs über Digitalität, Geräte und Menschen impliziert. Das Verhältnis zwischen Technik und Politik dieser Gruppe wird im ersten Kapitel analysiert: Zuerst wird die Entstehung proprietärer Software betrachtet, dann die Unterschiede zwischen Open Source und freier Software, und wie im letzten die Privateigentum und die soziale Beziehung zwischen Programmen, Benutzern und Entwicklern radikal in Frage gestellt werden. Später wird diese Beziehung anhand von Hanna Arendts _Die conditio humana_ in Bezug auf Arbeit, Herstellen und Handlen, Notwendigkeit und Freiheit, die die Bedingungen für Politik schaffen, weiter diskutiert. Im zweiten Kapitel wird das Konzept der Konvivialität (Ivan Illich) vorgestellt und diskutiert. Diese Idee wird später in der Wartung als infrastrukturelle Vorsorge weiterentwickelt und als ein zentrales Element digitaler Technologien vorgeschlagen, das weiter diskutiert werden sollte. Diese Konstellation des Denkens und Handelns, des Spielens und Lernens, des Experimentierens und der Übernahme von Verantwortung sowie der Politik und der sozialen Beziehungen sollte in der Technologiedebatte eine wichtige Rolle spielen.

- Hacker culture connects theory and praxis (following hand-on principles) and a new approach to culture materials (»information wants to be free«), that implies not only a different epistemology, but also a new political discourse on digitality, devices, and people. The relation between technic and politic of this group is analyzed in the first chapter: first focusing on the emergence of proprietary software; then considering the differences between open source and free software, the last one challenging radically the notion of private property and the social relation among programs, users, and developers. Later on, reading Hanna Arendts "The Human condition", the relation will be further discussed in terms of labor, work and action, necessity and freedom, which establish the conditions for politics. In the second chapter, the concept of conviviality (Ivan Illich) is introduced and discussed. This idea is later developed in maintenance as infrastructural care and proposed as a central element of digital technologies that should be further discussed. This constellation of thinking and acting, playing and learning, experimenting and taking responsibility, as well as politics and social relations should play a prominent role in the debate about technology.

Nicht nur, dass diese Stoffe "Namen griechischer Hirten (Polystyrol, Polyvinyl)" trugen, sie waren auch die Produkte einer Art Alchemie: "Das Publikum wartet in einer langen Schlange, um der Vollendung der magischen Operation schlechthin beizuwohnen: der Transmutation der Materie."

Zwischen 4,8 und 12,7 Millionen Tonnen Plastik gelangen jedes Jahr in die Ozeane, so die Zahlen, die 2015 in der Zeitschrift Science veröffentlicht wurden.
Mittlerweile schwimmt und sinkt Plastik in allen Teilen des Ozeans. Mikroplastik, das darauf wartet, in Nano-Netzen gefangen zu werden. Aufgefangene Stücke roter Partybecher, grüner und weißer Strohhalme, gelber Tüten und Partikel des längst verschwundenen PETE, HDP, V, LDPE, PS und OTHER bilden die Säulen und Hallen des Plastikpalastes als Reminiszenz an das Zeitalter des Plastiks.

Not only did these substances have “names of Greek shepherds (Polystyrene, Polyvinyl)”, but they were the products of a kind of alchemy: “the public waits in a long queue in order to witness the accomplishment of the magical operation par excellence: the transmutation of matter.”

Between 4.8 and 12.7 million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean each year, according to figures published in the journal Science in 2015.
In the meantime plastics have floated onto and sunken into all parts of the ocean. Microplastic waiting to be caught in nano-nets. Harvested pieces of red party cups, green and white straws, yellow bags and particles of the long gone PETE, HDP, V, LDPE, PS and OTHER make up the columns and halls of the Plastic Palace in reminiscence of the age of plastic.

- K & S, 2006 ist im Februar dieses Jahres entstanden. Wiederum bleibt der Betrachter mit der Fragestellung nach der Echtheit des Abgebildeten und dessen Materie alleine. Das Licht, dass einen Vergleich mit einer Soft-Box-Situation im Studio zulässt, verstärkt den Charakter von Künstlichkeit und Modellhaftigkeit.
Auch die Frage nach einer digitalen Montage ist in diesem Zusammenhang berechtigt. Die malerische Komponente kommt bei diesem Motiv stark zum Tragen. Die Materialität des Berges steht im Gegensatz zur scheinbar realen Wiese im Vordergrund und steigert somit die Absurdität des Gesamteindrucks. Die geradezu dramatische Himmelsformation tut ihr Übriges dazu. Das Fehlen von jeglichen Referenzpunkten in Bezug auf Größe und Dimension werfen weitere Fragen über die Örtlichkeit auf. Weniger „versetzt“ als „eingesetzt“ ruht der Berg zentral im Bild. Der Titel „K & S“ geht bezieht sich auf das Unternehmen „Kali & Salz“, dass für den Berg verantwortlich ist.

- K & S, 2006 was created in February of this year. Once again, the viewer is left alone with the question of the authenticity of the depicted and its material. The light, which allows a comparison with a soft-box situation in the studio, reinforces the character of artificiality and model-like quality.
The question of digital montage is also justified in this context. The painterly component comes to the fore in this motif. The materiality of the mountain stands in contrast to the seemingly real meadow in the foreground and thus increases the absurdity of the overall impression. The almost dramatic sky formation does the rest. The lack of any reference points in terms of size and dimension raises further questions about the location. The mountain is not so much “offset” as “inserted” in the center of the picture. The title “K & S” refers to the company “Kali & Salz”, which is responsible for the mountain.
