The academic year 2014/15 at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design was marked with great change. The departure of Prof. Dr. Peter Sloterdijk as rector of the university signaled the end of an era and the annual exhibition was restored to its original basic concepts as a creative space for students. And so the current annual report provides an inspiring insight into the varied activities with a new concept and it also serves as the best proof of the competence of the university – since it was designed by students Anna Cairns, Sascia Reibel and Lino Santo under the editorial management of Katharina Heidecke.
The slick cover – shimmering from red to pink – illustrates the change in the university’s administration and its fresh start: blank as a sheet of paper to be described anew. Throughout the entire print run, a color progression was created with an interference in the printing process, giving each copy a unique color gradation and transforming it into a coveted individual object. With its soft-covered 352 pages, the character of the report sways between book and magazine. The typically documentary character of a report is complemented with literary texts that were expressly picked out from the university’s literature seminar for this edition and published as a supplementary booklet.
Awarded with the Bronze Pin of the Art Directors Club Germany.

The diploma “Path Tiles” was exhibited in the atrium of the HfG in April 2024. The centerpiece of the display was the 10-meter-long table, whose outer shape is based on the route from Lithuania to Germany. This route was also milled into the surface in great detail. It describes my personal path of emigration to Germany when I was a child. The final objects were hung above the table while the corresponding stories, patterns, routes and photos were displayed on the table.
I would like to express my sincere thanks for the realization of the exhibition design to Erik Grunder, Finn de Bruyn, Alexander Knoppik and Sebastian Schäfer.

When designing the neck pillow, my focus was on making sleeping in a sitting position more comfortable. To achieve this, I integrated a second pillow for the back and extended the sides of the neck pillow so that they become pockets. The neck pillow hugs the whole body and gives you a feeling of cozyness while traveling.
The pattern is based on Anne Scriba's route from Phuket to Bangkok in Thailand, which I used to divide the cushion into several large surfaces. Anne's story about this journey can be read in the booklet “Path Tiles - A collection of stories and patterns”.

The classic scarf is upgraded by two almost invisible pockets at the ends. The pattern is based on the route tracked by Erik Grunder from Karlsruhe to Vienna. He used this GPS data to create a pattern on the Path Tiles website, which I then used to knit this scarf.
Erik's text about this route can be found in the booklet “Path Tiles - A collection of stories and patterns”.
