- Das Projekt „Crotto Collection“ untersucht den Raum des Badezimmers von der funktionalen Nasszelle bis zum häuslichen Refugium. Trotz ihrer Vielfalt teilen Baderäume ein zentrales, funktionales Element; die Sanitärkeramik.
Das Projekt beschäftigt sich mit den Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten durch die Übersetzung gebrannter Sanitärkeramik in ein neues Material. In Zusammenarbeit mit der Firma Geberit GmbH wird die Zusammensetzung des Materialentwurfs untersucht, auf ihre Eigenschaften geprüft und ein Gestaltungskonzept für Badezimmeraccessoires entwickelt. Basierend auf den Forschungsergebnissen wird ein Konzept entwickelt, das als Ansatz dient, keramische Abfälle innerhalb der Produktionskette einer Industrie weiter zu verwerten. Parallel zu verschiedenen Fliesenformen wird ein Zubehörset bestehend aus Spiegelhalter, Becher und Seifenschale entworfen. Darüber hinaus werden Vasen aus Toilettenformen entwickelt, als Symbol für die Ausweitung des Badezimmers in andere Wohnräume.

- The project “Crotto Collection” examines the bathroom space from the functional wet room to the domestic
refuge. Despite their variety, bathrooms all serve a common purpose. The central component of any
bathroom is the sanitary ceramics.
This fact gives rise to the project, which deals with the design possibilities of translating fired sanitary
ceramics into a new material. In collaboration with Geberit GmbH, material properties and usability are
being investigated. Based on the research results, a design concept is developed that serves as an
approach to translate ceramic waste within the production chain of an industry. Parallel to different shapes
of tiles, an accessory set consisting of a mirror holder, a tumbler and a soap dish is created. In addition,
vases are designed from toilet forms, as a symbol of extending the bathroom space into other living spaces.

- Der Zettelkasten ist das Herzstück der Sammlung und befindet sich auf einem Tisch, wo er durchblättert und erforscht werden kann. Der Inhalt des Zettelkastens steht in Zusammenhang mit den Bildern der Memowand und ist deswegen so positioniert, dass Blickkontakt zwischen dem Zettelkasten und den Bildern aufgenommen werden kann.

- Der Benutzer kann Bilder aus der Sammlung auswählen, individuell sichten und gruppieren. Die einzelnen Elemente kommen bei einer solchen Veränderung der Ordnung in Bewegung. Dadurch ergeben sich stets neue Verbindungen, die neue Denkmuster aufzeigen. Die Bilder werden nicht mit dem Ziel benutzt, eine abschließende Klassifikation vorzunehmen, oder einen endgültigen Katalog anzulegen. Vielmehr geht es darum die einzelnen Elemente zu versammeln und die Beziehungen, die zwischen ihnen bestehen, sichtbar zu machen.

- "Als der französische Schriftsteller Roland Barthes Mitte der 1950er Jahre eine Kunststoff-Ausstellung besuchte, interpretierte er das Gesehene in mythischen Begriffen. Nicht nur, dass diese Stoffe "Namen griechischer Hirten (Polystyrol, Polyvinyl)" trugen, sie waren auch die Produkte einer Art Alchemie: "Das Publikum wartet in einer langen Schlange, um der Vollendung der magischen Operation schlechthin beizuwohnen: der Transmutation der Materie."

Zwischen 4,8 und 12,7 Millionen Tonnen Plastik gelangen jedes Jahr in die Ozeane, so die Zahlen, die 2015 in der Zeitschrift Science veröffentlicht wurden.
Mittlerweile schwimmt und sinkt Plastik in allen Teilen des Ozeans. Mikroplastik, das darauf wartet, in Nano-Netzen gefangen zu werden. Aufgefangene Stücke roter Partybecher, grüner und weißer Strohhalme, gelber Tüten und Partikel des längst verschwundenen PETE, HDP, V, LDPE, PS und OTHER bilden die Säulen und Hallen des Plastikpalastes als Reminiszenz an das Zeitalter des Plastiks.

Between 4.8 and 12.7 million tonnes of plastic enter the ocean each year, according to figures published in the journal Science in 2015.
In the meantime plastics have floated onto and sunken into all parts of the ocean. Microplastic waiting to be caught in nano-nets. Harvested pieces of red party cups, green and white straws, yellow bags and particles of the long gone PETE, HDP, V, LDPE, PS and OTHER make up the columns and halls of the Plastic Palace in reminiscence of the age of plastic.
