- „Wir sind zunehmend wasserundurchlässig geworden: gedanklich abgeschottet von den subtilen und vielfältigen Beziehungen zu Flüssen, auch wenn diese weiterhin unsere Körper, Gedanken, Lieder und Geschichten durchströmen. Flüsse fließen durch die Menschen ebenso sicher wie durch Orte.“ Dieses Zitat stammt von Robert Macfarlanes "Sind Flüsse Lebewesen?" und bildet den Einstieg in mein Diplomprojekt, Like Sediment in a Slow Current. Mit der Rheinbegradigung am Oberrhein als Ausgangspunkt untersuche ich die verzerrte Beziehung zwischen uns Menschen, Wasser und anderen Wasserkörpern. Wenn Macfarlane schreibt "gedanklich abgeschottet", wie sind wir dann mit Flüssen verbunden? Dies und weitere Fragen wie: Wie sah der Rhein vor der Begradigung aus? Welche Folgen hat eine Begradigung für einen Fluss? Ist es möglich, einen Fluss als juristische Entität anzusehen? Wie sind wir mit anderen Wasserkörpern verbunden? Was definiert einen Wasserkörper? Wie kann ich mich kritisch mit einem Ort und seiner Geschichte auseinandersetzen? Das Projekt sammelt und kuratiert verschiedene Texte und Bilder aus Bereichen der Kunst, Biologie, Geologie und Philosophie und versucht sich den aufgelisteten Fragen zu nähern. Das Gestalten einer physischen Publikation hat es mir ermöglicht, mich anhand von bewussten Material- und Designentscheidungen kritisch mit dem Thema auseinanderzusetzen. Like Sediment in a Slow Current soll dazu dienen, seine eigene Position und die des Rhein in unserer Gesellschaft und dem verwobenen Netz der Natur zu hinterfragen.

- “We have become increasingly waterproofed: conceptually sealed against subtle and various relations with rivers, even as they continue to irrigate our bodies, thoughts, songs and stories. Rivers run through people as surely as they run through places.” This quote is from Robert Macfarlane’s Is a River Alive? and serves as the point of entry to my diploma project, Like Sediment in a Slow Current. Taking the straightening of the Upper Rhine as my starting point, I explore the distorted relationship between us humans, water, and other bodies of water. When Macfarlane writes “mentally compartmentalized,” how are we then connected to rivers? This and other questions, such as: What did the Rhine look like before it was straightened? What are the consequences of straightening a river? Is it possible to view a river as a legal entity? How are we connected to other bodies of water? What defines a body of water? How can I critically engage with a place and its history? The project collects and curates various texts and images from the fields of art, biology, geology, and philosophy and attempts to address the questions raised. Creating a physical publication has allowed me to critically engage with the topic through informed material and design choices. Like Sediment in a Slow Current is intended to encourage readers to challenge their own position and that of the Rhine within our society and the interwoven web of nature.

- Meine Abschlussarbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Kreuzfahrtschiff als einer Form von Architektur, die zwei parallel voneinander laufende Wirklichkeiten konstituiert, mit eigenen Regeln, Bewegungen und sozialen Codes.
Das Schiff organisiert diese Trennung bis ins Detail. Wege, Blickrichtungen und Abläufe lenken den Körper beinahe intuitiv durch den Raum. Bestimmte Rollen erscheinen selbstverständlich: der entspannte Gast, die serviceorientierte Crew, der verborgene Bereich hinter den Kulissen, der den reibungslosen Ablauf überhaupt erst ermöglicht.
Die Installation greift die Gleichzeitigkeit über eine räumliche und akustische Situation auf.
Während im Hintergrund versucht wird, den Betrieb aufrechtzuerhalten, dringen in den öffentlichen Bereich nur Fragmente der Störung: Durchsagen, Gesprächsfetzen, Beschwerden und das Weiterlaufen eines Unterhaltungsprogramms.
Für einen kurzen Moment wird hörbar, was normalerweise hinter der Oberfläche des scheinbar mühelosen Urlaubs verschwindet. Doch Unterhaltung und Betrieb laufen auch dort nahezu ohne Unterbrechung weiter, wo Erschöpfung, Zeitdruck oder technische Störungen Teil des Systems sind.
Dabei ist die Kreuzfahrt nur ein Luxusgut unter vielen, das sich auf technische Infrastruktur, Versorgungssysteme, Reinigung und Wartung sowie Handwerker, Fachkräfte und Hilfsarbeiter aus aller Welt stützt.
Nicht die Welt eines permanent inszenierten Erlebens steht im Mittelpunkt, sondern das Sichtbarwerden einer Infrastruktur, die sonst hinter Oberfläche, Routine und Unterhaltung verschwindet.

- My diploma explores the cruise ship as an architectural structure that produces two parallel realities, each governed by its own rules, movements, and social codes.
The ship organizes this separation down to the smallest detail. Pathways, sightlines, and routines guide bodies through space almost intuitively. Certain roles appear self-evident: the relaxed guest, the service-oriented crew member, and the hidden backstage areas that make the ship’s seamless operation possible in the first place.
The installation addresses this simultaneity through a spatial and acoustic setting.
While continuous efforts are made behind the scenes to keep operations running, only fragments of disruption reach the public areas: announcements, snippets of conversation, complaints, and the ongoing entertainment programme. For a brief moment, what normally disappears beneath the surface of the seemingly effortless holiday becomes audible. Yet entertainment and operations continue almost uninterrupted, even where exhaustion, time pressure, or technical failures are built into the system.
At the same time, the cruise industry is only one example of a luxury product that depends on extensive technical infrastructure, global supply chains, cleaning and maintenance services, as well as skilled and unskilled labour from around the world.
The focus is not the world of permanently staged experiences itself, but rather the visibility of an infrastructure that usually disappears behind surfaces, routines, and entertainment.

- Now or Nowhere ist ein Projekt, das die Frage stellt, ob Technologie aus einer Notwendigkeit heraus entsteht – oder ob ihre Notwendigkeit erst erkannt wird, nachdem sie bereits erschienen ist. Neue Geräte versprechen stets Effizienz, Verbesserung und nahtlose Konnektivität und behaupten, unser Leben leichter zu machen. Automatisierung lindert Müdigkeit, Konnektivität beseitigt Trennung, und Updates gleichen Unvollkommenheit aus. Doch was genau machen wir in diesem Prozess eigentlich bequemer – und was geben wir dabei stillschweigend aus der Hand?
Das Projekt schlägt drei virtuelle Geräte vor, die repetitive und scheinbar unbedeutende körperliche Handlungen stellvertretend für den Nutzer ausführen. AutoPresence ist ein Gerät, das aufgezeichnete Mausbewegungen wiedergibt und selbst in Abwesenheit des Nutzers kontinuierlich Spuren von Arbeit produziert. Ruhe wird nicht erkannt, und der Cursor hält niemals an. The Sixth Finger ist ein am Finger getragenes Wearable, das das Wischen auf dem Smartphone automatisiert und die vertraute Bewegung des Daumens durch einen zweiten Daumen ersetzt. Die Hand hält das Gerät weiterhin fest, doch die Handlung wird an die Maschine delegiert. Artificial Sweat Gland for Mobile Devices überträgt die Funktion der menschlichen Schweißdrüsen auf ein Kühlsystem für das Gerät und synchronisiert so die Temperatur von Körper und Gerät. Das Telefon verlässt die Hand nie.
Diese Geräte werden so präsentiert, als stünden sie kurz vor der Markteinführung. In Anlehnung an Produktpräsentationen und Werbeformate rahmt das Projekt alltägliche Gesten als Funktionen, die optimiert werden können. Werden die Besucherinnen im Ausstellungsraum zu potenziellen Konsumentinnen dieser Geräte – oder erkennen sie, dass sie bereits Konsument*innen sind?

- Now or Nowhere is a project that asks whether technology emerges from necessity or whether its necessity is only recognized after it has appeared. New devices always promise efficiency, improvement, and seamless connectivity, claiming to make our lives lighter. Automation relieves fatigue, connectivity eliminates disconnection, and updates compensate for imperfection. So, in this process, what are we making more convenient, and what are we quietly handing over?
The project proposes three virtual devices that perform repetitive and minor physical actions on behalf of the user. AutoPresence is a device that replays recorded mouse movements, continuously producing traces of labor even in the user's absence. Rest is not detected, and the cursor never stops. The Sixth Finger is a finger-worn wearable that automates smartphone swiping, replacing the most familiar thumb movements with a second thumb. The hand still grips, but the action is delegated to the machine. Artificial Sweat Gland for Mobile Devices converts the hand's sweat gland function into a device cooling system, synchronizing the body's and device's temperatures. The phone never leaves the hand.
These devices are arranged as if they are ready for launch. Borrowing the format of product displays and promotional presentation, the project reframes everyday gestures as features to be optimized. In the exhibition space, do audiences become potential consumers in front of these devices, or do they become aware that they are already consumers?

- Der Begriff Otaku bezeichnet eine Person, die eine tiefe, spezialisierte und anhaltende Begeisterung für ein bestimmtes Thema besitzt, die sich häufig durch umfangreiches Wissen, emotionale Bindung und aktive Beschäftigung damit auszeichnet.
In der heutigen Gesellschaft wird es zunehmend schwieriger, unsere reine Begeisterung mit anderen zu teilen. Menschen neigen dazu, soziale Gruppen auf der Grundlage kultureller Geschmäcker zu bilden, und dieses Phänomen hat sich im Zeitalter von Web 2.0 durch Mechanismen wie Filterblasen weiter verstärkt.
Durch das Projekt „Luv What You Luv“ möchte ich zeigen, was ich liebe, und gleichzeitig hören, was andere lieben. Das Projekt besteht hauptsächlich aus einem Magazin, das zwei Ausgaben in einem Band vereint. Die erste Ausgabe, [Girls], zeigt, was ich persönlich liebe. Die zweite Ausgabe, [Otaku], untersucht die Otaku-Fankultur genauer und enthält drei Interviews sowie sechs Gastbeiträge, die hervorheben, wofür andere Menschen eine besondere Leidenschaft haben.
Darüber hinaus umfasst das Projekt einen Fragebogen, der untersucht, was Leser:innen und Besucher:innen der Ausstellung lieben, sowie ein Otaku Presentation Video, in dem Teilnehmende ihre eigenen Leidenschaften und Interessen vorstellen.
Durch dieses Magazin und die dazugehörigen Inhalte hoffe ich, dass Menschen die Freude daran erleben können, das zu teilen, was sie lieben, und durch diese gemeinsamen Ausdrucksformen von Begeisterung lose soziale Verbindungen entstehen.

- The term otaku refers to a person who has deep, specialized, and sustained enthusiasm for a particular subject, often characterized by extensive knowledge, emotional attachment, and active engagement.
In contemporary society, it is becoming increasingly difficult to share our pure enthusiasm with others. People tend to form social groups based on cultural taste, and this phenomenon has intensified in the Web 2.0 era through mechanisms such as filter bubbles.
Through the “Luv What You Luv” project, I aim to present what I love while also listening to what others love. The project mainly consists of a magazine composed of two issues in a single book. The first issue, [Girls], presents what I personally love. The second issue, [Otaku], explores otaku fandom culture in depth, featuring three interviews and six contributed essays that highlight what others are passionately devoted to.
In addition, the project includes a questionnaire that explores what readers and exhibition visitors love, as well as an Otaku Presentation Video, in which participants present their own passions and interests.
Through this magazine and its accompanying contents, I hope that people can experience the joy of sharing what they love and form weak social bonds through these shared expressions of enthusiasm.

- „Manchmal ist Schmerz ganz leise“ ist eine immersive, autobiographische Hörstück-Installation, die den stillen und oft unsichtbaren Kampf mit einer schweren, namenlosen Krankheit in den Mittelpunkt stellt. Das Werk hinterfragt, was es bedeutet, in einer leistungsorientierten Gesellschaft plötzlich nicht mehr zu "funktionieren". Es geht den Ängsten, der Scham und dem tief empfundenen Gefühl des Versagens nach, das oft mit chronischer Krankheit einhergeht – Gefühle, die Betroffene selten teilen. Das Hörspiel verleiht einer Stimme Ausdruck, die für viele spricht und Einblicke in eine Realität gibt, die oft im Verborgenen bleibt.

- ‘Sometimes pain is very quiet’ is an immersive, autobiographical audio play installation that focuses on the silent and often invisible battle with a serious, nameless illness. The work questions what it means to suddenly no longer ‘function’ in a performance-orientated society. It explores the fears, the shame and the deeply felt sense of failure that often accompanies chronic illness – feelings that are rarely shared by those affected. The radio play gives expression to a voice that speaks for many and provides insights into a reality that often remains hidden.

- In der Magisterarbeit „all the good girls go to hell – Zur Widerständigkeit in der Figur der Hexe“ untersucht Louisa Raspé den Begriff der Hexe und die in der Figur existierende Ambivalenz. Ausgehend von der Unterscheidung von der „Hexe“ als negative Fremdbezeichnung und der »Hexe« als positive Selbstbezeichnung, sowie der damit zusammenhängenden Machtaspekte, beschäftigt sich diese Arbeit mit der Frage nach Subjektkonstruktionen und den Subjekten der Geschichtsschreibung im Gegensatz zu Erzählungen. Es geht um die Hexe als Figur der Übergänge und Grenzüberschreitungen, sowie ihren Beitrag zu gesellschaftlichen, kulturellen und politischen Umbrüchen im westeuropäischen Kontext. In dieser Arbeit geht es darum eine kritische Perspektive auf die Konstruktion von Subjekt, Geschlecht und Macht einzunehmen und stellt zugleich die Frage, wie sich Widerständigkeit im Spannungsfeld zwischen Stigma und Empowerment ausdrücken lässt.

Die szenische Installation „Cooking Care“ zeigt eine pflanzen gefärbte Patchwork-Tischdecke, die die Geschichten von Valeria, Susanne, Anna, Heike und Anne und deren unbezahlten Sorgearbeit über eine Woche hinweg in sich aufgesogen hat. Sie möchte die unsichtbare Arbeit sichtbar machen, investierte Zeit würdigen und sie feiern. Sie bietet eine Bühne, um ihre Stimmen zu hören, Verbindungen zu knüpfen und sich gegenseitig zu unterstützen.
Ausgangspunkt dieses Projekts war ein Abendessen mit fünf Frauen, die in verschiedenen Bereichen der unbezahlten Sorgearbeit tätig sind. An diesem Abend war das Kochen eine gemeinsame Aufgabe, die es allen ermöglichte, nicht nur den Prozess und das gemeinsame Essen zu genießen, sondern auch sich umeinder zu sorgen. Es wurde eine Reihe von vorbereiteten Fragen gestellt, um einen Raum für den Austausch von Geschichten, Zweifeln und Erfahrungen zu schaffen.
Darüber hinaus wurden die Teilnehmer ermutigt, die Stunden unbezahlter Sorgearbeit, die sie in den nächsten sieben Tagen leisteten, zu dokumentieren; sie sollten konkrete Zahlen auf Papier bringen, um die Stunden sowohl für sich selbst als auch für andere sichtbar zu machen. Sie wurden auch gebeten, die psychische Belastung zu dokumentieren, die sie in dieser Zeit erfahren haben. Anschließend wurden die dokumentierten Stunden unterschiedlicher Sorgearbeit und die entsprechende psychische Belastung in eine abstrakte Infografik – in Form einer Tischdecke – übersetzt.
Die Tischdecke besteht aus mehreren gleich großen Quadraten, die jeweils eine Stunde unbezahlter Pflegearbeit repräsentieren, die von diesen fünf Frauen im Laufe der sieben Tagen dokumentiert wurde. Die einzelnen Stoffstücke wurden mit essbaren, saisonalen und lokal beschafften Pflanzen gefärbt, von denen viele selbst gesammelt wurden. Sie wurden vorbehandelt und 24 bis 48 Stunden lang im Färbebad gekocht. Da es sich bei den Stoffen um gebrauchte Haushaltstextilien handelt, hat jedes Stück seine eigene Geschichte und variiert in seiner Fähigkeit, Farbe zu absorbieren. Daher war der Färbeprozess experimentell und variierte, was jedes Mal zu einem einzigartigen Ergebnis führte. Außerdem trug der unterschiedliche Wuchs der zum Färben verwendeten Pflanzen zur Vielfalt der Ergebnisse bei.
Jede gefärbte Farbnuance steht für eine andere Art von Pflegearbeit. Bei hoher psychischer Belastung wurden die Quadrate mit zusätzlichem Stoff durch die Quilting Technik verdickt. Die so entstandene Tischdecke dient somit als künstlerische Abstraktion der unbezahlten Sorgearbeit, die ihre Sichtbarkeit erhöhen soll.

The spatial installation 'Cooking Care' shows a plant-dyed patchwork tablecloth soaked in the stories of Valeria, Susanne, Anna, Heike und Anne and their unpaid care-workload of one week. It aims to reach visibility, to celebrate, and appreciate the time and effort put into that work, and to give their voices a stage to be heard, connected and empowered.
The starting point of this project was a dinner with five women who engage in different fields of unpaid care work. That evening, cooking was a shared task, allowing everyone to not only enjoy the process and feasting together but also to care for each other. A set of premeditated question was asked to create a space to share stories, doubts, and experiences.
Furthermore, the participants were encouraged to document the hours of unpaid care work they performed over the next seven days; to provide actual numbers on paper, making it visible both to themselves and to others. They were also asked to document the mental load they experienced during this time. Then, the documented hours of different care work and the according mental load were translated into an abstract infographic in the form of a tablecloth.
The tablecloth consists of multiple squares of identical size each representing one hour of unpaid care work as documented by these five women over the course of seven days. The individual fabric pieces have been dyed using edible, seasonal, and locally-sourced plants, many of which were self-collected. They were pre-treated and cooked in the dye bath for 24 to 48 hours. Since the fabric consists of second hand household textiles, each piece carries its own history and varies in its ability to absorb dye. Thus, the dyeing process was experimental and varied with each batch, resulting in a unique outcome every time. The different growth of the plants used for dyeing added to the variety.
Each dyed color shade stands for a different type of care work. When there was a high mental load reported, squares were also thickened with additional fabric by the quilting technique. The resulting tablecloth thus serves as an artistic abstraction of the unpaid care work that aims to increase its visibility.

Angelehnt an das Format des Reparatur-Cafés, werden Benutzer*innen dazu eingeladen eigenständig und gemeinsam Dinge zu reparieren. Hierbei steht nicht nur die Müllvermeidung und Ressourcenschonung im Vordergrund, sondern vor allem der selbstwirksame Zugang zur dinglichen Umwelt. - PERMANENT BROKENNESS is a mobile (infra-)structure that demonstrates the transformative potential of public spaces by making the repair of household and consumer appliances available and visible. Inspired by the repair café format, users are invited to repair things independently and together. The focus here is not only on avoiding waste and conserving resources, but above all on self-effective access to the material environment. The project is based on extensive research into the cultural practice of repairing and formulates a counter-narrative to hegemonies of production, innovation and unreflected mass consumption.

- Mit den Mitteln einer wissenschaftlichen Lecture erzählt „I Cried A Smile“ eine Geschichte über eine Person mit 2 Köpfen, Holz das zu Menschen wird, und die Erinnerung daran als Kind mit Neuropsychologie in Kontakt zu treten. Zwei übereinander hängende Projektionsflächen zeigen Zeichnungen, Animationen und gefundenes Bildmaterial während meine Stimme vom Band läuft und ich an einem Schreibtisch sitzend, mit dem Verfahren „Lip-Sync“ lautlos mitspreche. Das Publikum sitzt wie in einem anatomischen Theater in zwei Halbkreisen um mich herum.

Two projection screens hanging above me showcasing drawings, animations and found footage while my voice runs from the tape and I, sitting at a desk, speak along inaudibly using the “Lip-Sync” method. The audience sits around me like in an anatomical theater.
