- In einer Bar, in der Innenstadt von Karlsruhe, trifft das Publikum auf ein tourendes Trio mit einer sonderbaren Geschichte: Es war einmal ein Nachtfalter, der lebte im Dschungel des brasilianischen Amazonas. Dieser Falter trug den Namen Gorgone macarea und hatte eine Angewohnheit, die für ein Lebewesen auf der Erde recht eigensinnig erschien. Gorgone macarea trank die Tränen schlafender Vögel. Für ihn: eine sichere Nahrungsquelle in unsicheren Zeiten. - In a bar in downtown Karlsruhe, the audience encounters a touring trio with a peculiar story: Once upon a time, there was a moth living in the jungles of the Brazilian Amazon. This moth was called Gorgone macarea and had a habit that seemed rather unusual for a creature on Earth. Gorgone macarea drank the tears of sleeping birds. For the moth, it was a reliable source of nourishment in uncertain times. After all, even back then, the Amazon rainforest was considered a so-called tipping element, capable of disrupting the global climate balance. This moth was called Gorgone macarea and had a habit that seemed rather unusual for a creature on Earth. Gorgone macarea drank the tears of sleeping birds. For the moth, it was a reliable source of nourishment in uncertain times. After all, even back then, the Amazon rainforest was considered a so-called tipping element, capable of disrupting the global climate balance. As Gorgone macarea’s habitat changed more and more, and the birds gradually disappeared, the moth set out in search of other tears. Along the way, it heard that humans shed a kind of tear unlike any other creature on Earth: emotional tears.
And so, the moth decided to invite humans to share their tears with it.
Since then, the moth and its two companions, Sadgirl and Fluss, have been touring from bar to bar, drawing the audience into their universe for one night. A universe where tears are the main ingredient of the evening—served in every cocktail.

In einer Bar, in der Innenstadt von Karlsruhe, trifft das Publikum auf ein tourendes Trio mit einer sonderbaren Geschichte: Es war einmal ein Nachtfalter, der lebte im Dschungel des brasilianischen Amazonas. Dieser Falter trug den Namen Gorgone macarea und hatte eine Angewohnheit, die für ein Lebewesen auf der Erde recht eigensinnig erschien. Gorgone macarea trank die Tränen schlafender Vögel. Für ihn: eine sichere Nahrungsquelle in unsicheren Zeiten. Denn der Amazonas Regenwald galt auch damals schon als ein sogenanntes Kippelement, der das Klima auf der Welt aus dem Gleichgewicht bringen konnte. Da also Gorgone macareas Lebensraum sich immer mehr veränderte und auch die Vögel nach und nach wegzogen, machte der Falter sich auf, um andere Tränen zu suchen. Dabei kam ihm zu Ohren, dass der Mensch ganz besondere Tränen vergießt, wie kein anderes Lebewesen auf der Erde: Emotionale Tränen.
Und so entschloss sich der Nachtfalter, die Menschen einzuladen, um ihre Tränen mit ihm zu teilen.
Seither touren der Nachtfalter und seine zwei Kompliz*innen Sadgirl und Fluss von Bar zu Bar und lassen für einen Abend das Publikum Teil ihres Universums werden. Ein Universum – in dem Tränen die Hauptzutat des Abends sind und in jedem Cocktail serviert werden.
Sekret ist eine Performance über und mit den Tränen unserer Zeit. Durch die Erzählungen der drei Protagonist*innen taucht das Publikum in die Welt von Emotion, Affekt und Fiktion ein. Dabei wird das Phänomen des emotionalen Weinens durch gesellschaftspolitische, popkulturelle oder lyrische Themen in den Fokus genommen.
Durch die Figuren Nachtfalter, Sadgirl und Fluss werden Konzepte und Phänomene wie die Inszenierung von Tränen, Schmerz, Tränen als Tabu, Tränen als Klischee, Weiße Tränen oder Tränen als Körperflüssigkeit näher betrachtet. Wir fragen: Wer vergießt Tränen wie und wo? Wann werden sie geweint? Wofür stehen sie? Und welche Absichten stecken hinter den 70-100 Litern Tränen, die ein Mensch im Leben vergießt?

Wiebke Mueller (she/her) works as a freelance scenographer, costume designer, and artist. She studied at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, the Bauhaus University Weimar, and as a guest at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. She has worked and presented her projects at venues such as TJG Dresden, Residenz Leipzig, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, GfzK Leipzig, 4BidGallery Amsterdam, and Staatstheater Karlsruhe. She is a co-founder of the spatial collective "Kollektiv Kubik" and has been collaborating with it regularly since 2017."Sekret – Eine Tränen-Bar Performance" is Wiebke Mueller's final project at HfG Karlsruhe in 2024.

- Die Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Karlsruhe bietet ihren Studierenden einen einzigartigen Raum für engagiertes Lernen, Forschen und Experimentieren. Sie steht seit 1992 für die interdisziplinäre Verbindung von Kunst, Design und Theorie.
Ob Kommunikationsdesign, Produktdesign, Medienkunst, Ausstellungsdesign und Szenografie oder Kunstwissenschaft und Medienphilosophie – allen Studiengängen gemeinsam ist die fächerübergreifende, meist projektbasierte Arbeit und eine individuelle Betreuung der Studierenden. Die Kooperation mit dem Zentrum für Kunst und Medien (ZKM) unterstreicht und erweitert die interdisziplinäre Ausrichtung. Zusätzlich zu den eigenen Lehrangeboten vergibt die HfG regelmäßig Gastprofessuren und Lehraufträge an internationale Künstler:innen und Wissenschaftler:innen. Hinzu kommen weltweite Austauschprogramme sowie Partnerschaften mit regionalen und internationalen Kultureinrichtungen und Hochschulen.
Die Verbindung von Theorie und Praxis zielt vor allem darauf ab, Selbstständigkeit zu entwickeln und die Studierenden auf unterschiedlichste berufliche Anforderungen vorzubereiten. Wer sich für ein Studium an der Hochschule entscheidet, genießt den Freiraum, sein eigenes Potenzial zu entwickeln.
Studierende haben die Möglichkeit, ihre Arbeiten in temporären Ausstellungen und auch dem jährlichen Rundgang zu präsentieren, an Vortrags- und Filmprogrammen mitzuwirken, sowie an künstlerischen und wissenschaftlichen Rechercheprojekten teilzunehmen.
Als eine der wenigen Hochschulen in Deutschland vergibt die HfG Karlsruhe die Abschlüsse Diplom und Magister Artium, die große Freiheit in der Ausgestaltung des Studiums bieten. Alle Abschlüsse haben volle Bologna-Kompatibilität und sind international anerkannt.

- The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) offers its students a unique space for dedicated learning, research and experimentation. Since 1992 it has stood for the interdisciplinary combination of art, design and theory.
Whether Communication Design, Product Design, Media Art, Exhibition Design and Scenography or Art Research and Media Philosophy, all courses share an interdisciplinary approach, that is student centered and mainly focusing on project-based work. The cooperation with the Center for Art and Media (ZKM) underlines and expands this interdisciplinary orientation. In addition to its own courses, the HfG regularly awards visiting professorships and teaching assignments to international artists and academics. There are also worldwide exchange programs and partnerships with regional and international cultural institutions and universities.
The combination of theory and practice is primarily aimed at developing independent thinking and preparing students for a wide range of professional demands. Those who choose to study at the university will enjoy the freedom of realizing their individual potential.
Students will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in temporary exhibitions or the annual open studies (Rundgang), contribute to lecture and film programs, as well as participate in artistic and scientific research projects.
The HfG Karlsruhe is one of the few universities in Germany to award both the Diploma and Magister of Arts degrees, which offer great freedom in the design of their study fields. All degrees are internationally recognized and fully Bologna-compatible.
