Die vierte Ausgabe der Seminarreihe des Open Resource Center zielt darauf ab, die Archivkultur an der HfG weiterzuentwickeln. Diesmal geht es um praktische Fähigkeiten und Kenntnisse, um den Prozess des Kuratierens einer Ausstellung aus einem Archiv heraus sowie um die Abteilungsgeschichten und Sammlungen der HfG. Das institutionelle Gedächtnis der HfG und die Herausforderungen, ihre Vergangenheit und Gegenwart zu dokumentieren, sind die Hauptaufgabe des Open Resource Center. Ziel des Seminars ist es, interessierten Studierenden Kenntnisse über die Archivierung und über Archive zu vermitteln und durch ein Programm mit Gastrednern, ehemaligen HfG-Professoren und -Mitarbeitern weitere Untersuchungen und Interpretationen der HfG-Geschichte anzuregen. Die Gäste werden Fragmente von Fachbereichsgeschichten vorstellen: Michael Saup über den Fachbereich Medienkunst, Barbara Kuon über den Fachbereich Theorie, Thomas Mayfried über den Fachbereich Kommunikationsdesign, Volker Albus über den Fachbereich Produktdesign und Beatrix von Pilgrim über den Fachbereich Szenografie und Ausstellungsgestaltung. Dieses Seminar läuft parallel zu dem Prozess der Langzeituntersuchung der Abteilungssammlungen, den das ORC in diesem Sommersemester beginnt. Von den teilnehmenden Studierenden wird erwartet, dass sie ihre Faszination für die Geschichte und Gegenwart des formellen und informellen Lebens unserer Hochschule präsentieren und mit anderen teilen und kreative Wege finden, einen Aspekt der HfG zu dokumentieren.

The fourth edition of the Open Resource Center’s seminar series aims at developing the culture of archiving at HfG further. This time it focuses on practical skills and know-how, on the process of curating an exhibition from an archive, as well as the HfG's departmental histories and collections. The institutional memory of HfG and the challenges of documenting both its past and present are the key occupation of Open Resource Center. The goal of this seminar is to equip interested students with knowledge of archiving and on archives, and to provoke further examinations and interpretations of HfG history through a program of guest speakers, former HfG professors and staff. The guests will present fragments of departmental histories: Michael Saup on the Media Art department, Barbara Kuon on the Theory department, Thomas Mayfried on the Communication Design department, Volker Albus on the Product Design department and Beatrix von Pilgrim on the Scenography and Exhibition Design department. This seminar runs in parallel to the process of long-term investigation of departmental collections that ORC commences this Summer semester. Participating students are expected to present and share their fascinations with the history and present of our school's formal and informal life and to come up with creative ways of documenting an aspect of HfG.
